School Council

The School Council
At St John's C. of E. our School Council plays an important part in our school year.

Annual elections are held, with two children from each class elected for a position on the council. The children canvas by writing and delivering speeches to their 'constituencies'. Pupil voting takes place using ballot boxes to democratically elect the new pupil councillors.

Once appointed, throughout the year the council will meet regularly with Mrs Smith to talk about new ideas and how they think the school can be improved, using the views of the other children from their classes.

One of the council's key responsibilities within school is fundraising. The children are involved in the organisation of fundraising events, such as Children in Need and Comic Relief, working with Mrs Smith to plan the day and the different events the school will take part in.

The School Council supports a number of charities both local and national.
